Port of Galaxidi

When you arrive at Galaxidi the first thing that strikes you is the quiet. As until 1963 was connected mainly by sea routes without being an island, it has an island atmosphere with its very own character. Once, one of Greece’s busiest and wealthiest ports, entered a period of decline in the early 20th century after failing to follow the evolution of technology from sails to steam. Despite the hard times, it managed to retain its characteristics, the nautical tradition, the pretty paved courtyards, its renovated stately homes, residences of respected sea captains, etc.

This picturesque coastal village well sheltered in the recess of a bay, opposite Itea, with its cafes and taverns, fishing boats and yachts, sea on one side and pine forest on the other and its unique identity, compose an excellent setting of tourist and yachting destination with a tranquil and less commercialized character.

Either through the beautiful narrow streets or across the quay you can find the village 2 pharmacies, mini markets, bakeries, groceries, gift shops, press agency, 2 ATM and one Bank.The town’s old quay has recently had upgraded and water and electricity points installed.
